Word sense disambiguation of WordNet glosses
This paper presents a suite of methods and results for the semantic disambiguation of WordNet glosses. WordNet is a resource widely used in natural language processing and artificial intelligence. Intended and designed as a lexical database, WordNet exhibits some deficiencies when used as a knowledge base. By semantically disambiguating the words in the glosses, we add pointers from each word t...
متن کاملAutomatic WordNet Mapping Using Word Sense Disambiguation
This paper presents the automatic construction of a Korean WordNet from pre-existing lexical resources. A set of automatic WSD techniques is described for linking Korean words collected from a bilingual MRD to English WordNet synsets. We will show how individual linking provided by each WSD method is then combined to produce a Korean WordNet for nouns.
متن کاملGoogle & WordNet based Word Sense Disambiguation
This paper presents an unsupervised methodology for automatic disambiguation of noun terms found in domain specific unrestricted corpora. This method extends approaches of Fragos (Fragos et al., 2003) and others that use the WordNet (Miller, 1998) database in order to resolve semantic ambiguity. The method is evaluated by disambiguating the noun collection of SemCor 2.0. Parameter adjustment wa...
متن کاملRelating WordNet Senses For Word Sense Disambiguation
The granularity of word senses in current general purpose sense inventories is often too fine-grained, with narrow sense distinctions that are irrelevant for many NLP applications. This has particularly been a problem with WordNet which is widely used for word sense disambiguation (WSD). There have been several attempts to group WordNet senses given a number of different information sources in ...
متن کاملUnsupervised word sense disambiguation using WordNet relatives
This paper describes a sense disambiguation method for a polysemous target noun using the context words surrounding the target noun and its WordNet relatives, such as synonyms, hypernyms and hyponyms. The result of sense disambiguation is a relative that can substitute for that target noun in a context. The selection is made based on co-occurrence frequency between candidate relatives and each ...
